Yoginder and Vyas  inspects works at Kupwara

Member Prime Minster’s office and planning advisor Mr. Yoginder, Member Planning commission Mrs. Sayeda Hamid along with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, B. B. Vyas inspected various ongoing centrally sponsored works in Kupwara District. The schemes include construction of schools buildings under SSA, health centers, CICs besides other rural development works.

The team was informed that Rs 1.18 Crore were incurred on completion of 240 Community works and 131 low cost houses constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 35.81 Lacs during the last fiscal year. Similarly, under SGSY, 723   works were completed at a cumulative cost of 7.2 Crores.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Mr. Ab Hamid Wani apprised the team that priority has been accorded to education, health, PHE and Power Sectors. The team also interacted with the officers to know on the ground achievement in respect of various development works and expressed satisfaction over the overall performance of various departments. The team had also interaction with gram sabhas at Kahipora and Wadipora and apprised the team about the functioning of gram sabhas and other related matters.

Among others Sectary Rural Development, Directors of Rural Development, Education and Social Welfare were accompanying the team.

The team also convened district officers meeting and reviewed the progress made under various centrally sponsored schemes.

1.20 Lacs Children Administered Pulse Polio Drops in Kupwara District

Under Pulse Polio Immunization Programme about 1.20 Lac Children of the age group 0-5 years were administered pulse polio drops in District Kupwara. For this purpose, 1.40 lac doses were arranged to cater the requirement.

The campaign was commenced by the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ab. Hamid Wani by administering polio drops to 4 newly born children at District Hospital Kupwara. The Chief Medical Officer informed that 530 pulse polio booths were set up and  2,120 employees of education, ICDS and health departments besides NGO’s were deployed for the successful, culmination of the programme. Besides 109 Supervisory teams were setup for overall supervision of the programme in the District.

521 income generating units established in Kupwara

An amount of Rs. 55.61 Lac was incurred under SGSY scheme by the rural development agency during last financial year.

This was disclosed in a meeting of officers of Rural Development Chaired by the District Development Commissioner. The meeting disclosed that 521 income generating units were established in the district and Rs. 39 Lacs was released as subsidy component by the department and Rs. 2.27 Crore was advance as loan by various financial institutions.

The meetings further informed that 34 self help groups were formed and Rs. 14 lac assistance provided to newly formed 15 self help groups besides 1.90 lac revolving fund was released in 19 cases.  Under SGSY 210 Swarozgaries were also trained in different trades.

Rs. 35 Lacs Being Spent Under Tribal Sub Plan in Teetwal

An amount of Rs. 35 Lacs is being spent under tribal sub plan in Teetwal Block of Karnah Sub Division during current financial year. This was stated at a meeting of officers convened to review physical and financial achievements registered in the sub division. The meeting was informed that 3 dislocated villages of tribal communities are being provided with road connectivity facility. For this purpose various roads are under construction at the cost of Rs. 35 Lacs and so far Rs. 8 Lacs have been incurred on those works.

Seerat Conference at Kupwara

As a part of Milad Celebrations a seerat conference was organized by “council baro-e-farrog-e-urdu zaban” at Kupwara. High lighting the life and character of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) the students urged to adhere to his teachings and principles. They described him (SAW) an apostle of peace, justice, equality and blessing for the whole humanity.

Credit action plan for Kupwara approved at Rs. 53 crore

The credit action plan of Kupwara district for the current fiscal year has been fixed at Rs. 53.47 crore.

Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of bankers and officers of the concerned department with deputy commissioner in chair.

Reviewing last years achievements under the credit plan, it was informed that 53 self help groups were formed with credit facility of Rs. 2.27 crores. Under agriculture sector Rs. 5.78 crores were distributed among 617 cases and under Industries Sector 229 cases were provided loan of Rs. 11.35 besides under service sector 1,065 cases were disbursed with loan assistanceof Rs. 12.81 Crores. The last years credit action plan was of the order of Rs. 48.02 crores with an expenditure of 19.73 crores incurred during last financial year.

The Deputy Commissioner exhorted upon the officers and bankers to work with renewed vigour and zeal to achieve the optimum results from various schemes launched by the government for the welfare of people.

Lok Adalat at Kupwara

A lok adalat under the chairmanship of Disrict and Sessions Judge, Kupwara who is also the chairman of the district legal services authority was held here.

In all 26 cases of different nature were taken up for hearing. Out of these 10 cases decided by mutual consent of parties including an insurance claim wherein a compensation of Rs. 1.05 Lacs was awarded in favour of claimant.

URS Arrangements at Zachaldara

urs of “Pir Dast-e-geer” SahibRA was celebrated  at Zachaldara, Handwara, which commenced from 12th May, 2005. Hundreds of devotees from all over the District attended the URS celebrations. The holy relic of the saint was displayed on this occasion. The local administration had made elaborate arrangements of power supply, drinking water and transport for the devotees.

De-Silting Of Handwara Khuls in Progress

The Rural Development Department has taken up remodeling and de-silting of zamindari khuls on large scale in Rajwar block of Handwara in view of ensuing paddy cultivation season. So far Rs. 2 Lac have been spent on this.

Mean while, the department has constructed a panchayat ghar at Wadoora Payeen at a cost of Rs. 2.50 Lac. The local armay unit has provided recreational facility in the shape of TV, radio and generator set for the people in this panchayat ghar.

DSC, Kupwara Sanctions Rs 40 Lac as Ex-Gratia

The District Screening committee Kupwara which met here with district magistrate Ab Hamid Wani in chair sanctioned an ex-gratia relief of Rs 40 Lac in favour of militancy related cases in Kupwara District. Of this, Rs 17 Lac were sanctioned in favour of next of kin of those killed, Rs 6 Lac for 14 injured persons and Rs 17 Lac for property damage cases.

Rs 7 Crores utilized under SSA in Kupwara

To promote total literacy programme under Sorvo Shiksha Abhiyan, Rs 7 Crores have been spent in Kupwara District during last three years. Free Text books and uniforms worth Rs 2.85 Crores have been provided to 1.72 Lac students. This was stated in at a meeting of officers of education department held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.

The meeting was informed that 48 buildings for primary and Middle schools at the cost of Rs 1.83 crores were constructed while 184 primary and middle schools were upgraded in the district during the period. As many as 766 candidates were engaged under Rahbar-e-Taleem Scheme.
