A meeting of district officers here today
discussed measures to combat any eventuality in the event of natural calamities. The
District Development Commissioner chaired.
All the departments were asked to utilize
their capabilities and resources and prepare a contingency plan well in time to meet any
challenge being posed by natural calamities. They were asked to prepare an inventory of
available resources and submit the same to the Deputy Commissioners office within
one week so that during exigency the situation is tackled satisfactorily.

Development Commissioner Kupwara while presiding over an officers meeting held here today
.It was further informed that during last financial Year, Rs 1.20 crores were spent for
completion of 30 primary school buildings and Rs 30 lakhs incurred for construction of
additional accommodation for 32 schools in the District.
This spokesman said, was stated at a meeting
of officers chaired by District Development Commissioner Kupwara here today. Under Indra
Awaz Yojna, RS 34 lakhs have been provided for construction of low cast housing units in
the District benefiting 156 families.
It was given out that 837 income generating
unites have been setup and 221 Self-help Groups formed in the District.

by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and flood control, Qazi Mohd. Afzal while addressing a
public meeting at Kupwara Yesterday. He said, the Kupwara water supply scheme is coming up
at a cost of Rs 3.48 crore and on its completion 40000 more souls would be benefited.
In Tangdar Sub Division of Kupwara district,
Balthadyan water supply scheme is coming up at a cost of RS 1.36 crore. So for, Rs 1.25
lakhs have been spent on the execution of the scheme. On its completion, the scheme would
provide drinking water facilities to about 7000 souls living in the area.
This was disclosed in officers meeting held
at Tanghdar with District Development Commissioner, Abdul Majeed Khandy in chair, who is
currently on three-day visit to the border area The DDC inaugurated a meeting hall at
Tangdar having all modern facilities. An amount of Rs 18 lakhs has been spent on it.
In the district, Rs 6 crores are being
utilized in various power supply schemes during the current financial year, which include
Rs 2.36 crore under Rastriya Sevam Vikas Yougana
and Rs 2 crore under BADP programme
