District Statistics and
Evaluation Officer Kupwara
The District Statistics and Evaluation Office is
located at Kupwara in the 2nd floor on Southern
side of the District Offices Complex Kupwara.
The Office is headed by the Deputy Director
Planning and Statistics designated as District
Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) . The

Evaluation Studies:- District Level Evaluation Study:-
The Evaluation studies of District Level are under taken
each year @ two of the programmes/schemes of any two
Departments selected by the District Development
Commissioner as Chairman District Level Technical
Advisory Committee (DLTAC).
State Level Evaluation Study:- The State Level
Evaluation study are assigned by the Directorate of
Economics and Statistics as per the selection of State
Level Evaluation Committee under the Chairmanship of
Principal
Secretary Planning and Development
Department.
Yearly Publications
• Publications is the next main and essential assignment of the Office of
District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) under which the following
publications are collected, compiled and released after getting vetted from
the Regional Joint Director E&S as technical authority on yearly basis.
District Statistical Handbook:- Containing tabular achievements of the
programme and schemes of all the public sectors in the District.
District at a Glance:- Containing the peculiar and particular information of
the District.
Economic Review:- Containing the features of main sectors of the
economy of the District.
District Profile:- Containing the segmental information of all the sector in
the District.
Village Amenity Directory:
- Containing the base level information of
Amenities/facilities together with other demographic information on village
level/ block level/tehsil level.
Physical Verification
This assignment is allotted by the Principal Secretary Planning
& Development Department for some particular projects
completed under various schemes in the District for verifying
their feasibility, quality and utility under specific report
formation in comparison with DPR. Besides physical
verification of works allotted by District Development
Commissioner Kupwara are also carried by the Office. As on
date, 12 schemes /projects as per below mentioned details have
been verified and status report furnished to the Planning &
Dev. Department.

National Sample Survey(NSS)
National Sample Survey is being conducted yearly as per the
directions of NSSO for observing the economic features at
national level like as, per capta income/expenditure/position
and economic at national level. The present survey under
taken during 2014-15 is of 72nd round and 50% of field survey
is completed. As regards 71ist round started during 2013-14,
the same stands already completed with various sub rounds
and is under tabulation in the Office which shall at least take
March ending of current year.
Vital Statistics
Vital Statistics work, viz death and Birth reports are
being received from Registrars by this Office in the
District and are compiled for onward submission to the
Additional Chief Registrar J&K on Monthly basis. In
addition, in respect of delayed death/birth registration,
the process for issuance of certificates is also being
dealt by this Office.
Price Statistics
Weekly Price collection of all essential
commodities are being collected from the
general market and being submitted to the
Directorate of Economics. Besides, six
monthly average whole sale price of
Livestock and their bye products(young
one/milk etc) is also collected from the Chief
Animal Husbandry Officer Kupwara.
Additional Assignment/Activities
The Office is also allotted with the additional assignment of Surveys of
different nature which include the following:-
Economic Census: Under which Sixth Economics Census containing the
information of all the Business establishments in the District stands recently
conducted and completed and submitted to the Govt.
Employment and Un-Employment:- Under which the 4th round of the said
survey of the given samples stands completed and submitted to the
concerned higher-ups.
Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior, Belief and Practices(KABBP) Survey:-
Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior, Belief and Practices(KABBP) of electoral
stands also completed and submitted to the concerned higher-ups.
Business Register:- This assignment was recently given by the Directorate
of Economics and Statistics under which collection, compilation and
formation of all the Registered establishment of the District Industries
Center DIC, Khadi and Village Industry Board (KVIB), Co-operatives and
Labour Departments i.e
(Assistant Labour Commissioner) have been
prepared and submitted. The same stands completed and submitted to the
concerned quarters. The registration units in the district are
Manual Scavengers Survey:- This survey was assigned to this office
regarding the allocation and particulars of Manual Scavengers in all the
three Towns of the District which has been completed and submitted to the
Economics & Statistics J&K and Socilawelfare Deptt..

This section deals with the preparation of budget estimates of
the employees on roll and financial issues.
