National Informatics Centre (NIC) district centre Kupwara was set up in the year 1996.NIC has been instrumental in introducing the Informatics culture in the District. The computer awareness has been spread among the employees of the various departments of the district through trainings conducted from time to time. Kupwara is a remote district and the internet facilities are available only through NIC. Internet LAN has been set up in the Deputy Commissioner Offices and internet facilities extended to various officers in the complex.  Internet facilities are available through dial-up to the offices located outside the complex.
